Joel Hadary
Chief Operating Officer
Bringing over twenty-five years of experience in information technology including
operations, finance, data mining, and application development, Joel co-founded Semphonic and is chief
operating officer. His responsibilities include overseeing the operations and finances of Semphonic,
as well as contributing to the design and development of Semphonic product and services.
Before Semphonic, Joel used his financial and technological experience to achieve
measurable benefits in industries ranging from finance, aerospace, to telecommunications. At Hughes
Aircraft he developed systems that saved Hughes over $300 million in taxes. His primary expertise
focuses on using large volumes of information for actionable results. While at AT&T, he was
instrumental in productizing Bell Labs' research in data mining and visualization into a commercial
product.
He has presented at various conferences, workshops, and roundtables including IIR's
Conference Customer Information Management for Marketers, Fortune's Internet Strategy Workshop, and
Systems Management Magazine's Data Warehousing Roundtable. Joel's published articles include: All You
Can vs. All You Should Eat: a Case Study for Database Marketing, DMDirect; Using Card Transaction Data,
American Demographics; Using Daytime Data for Direct Mail Targeting, Business Geographics; and Worker's
Compensation Providers Networks, Business Insurance. He has an MBA from Pepperdine University and an
MFA from California Institute of the Arts.
